Your Questions About Expedia Hotel

Sandy asks…

Which of these places is best for a honeymoon?

Punta Cana – Gran Bahia Principie hotel
Barbados – Treasure Beach or Hilton
St. Lucia – Windjammer hotel
St. Thomas – Marriott Frenchman’s Reef
Hawaii – Oahu – Hawaii Prince hotel & Maui – Royal Lahaina hotel

Anyone been to any of these places? They all look great on tripadvisor, expedia & travelocity. Thought I’d check here for more opinions/insight. I’m not interested in other locations right now – just the ones I listed.

Ready2Retire answers:

I’ve been to Barbados especially the Hilton, it’s very nice. Don’t know about Treasure Beach since I’ve never been there.

Hilton hotel is very, very beautiful. It’s like a dream. Only speaking from experience. They’ve got this little bar/restaurant inside the hotel and dancing is involved.

There’s also FishFry where you can interract with tourists and/or locals if interested in Oistins. You can eat, listen to music even dance.

Now back to the hotel, there is beach not far from there and I’ve seen a swimming pool, too. Let me tell you again, it’s a dream to be having, actually a dream to be living in reality.

Lizzie asks…

Which Atlantic City motels are affordable, but close to the boardwalk/beach?

It has to be under 100 bucks on a Saturday night in late march. Expedia/travel websites dont show all the hotels there.

Ready2Retire answers:

Go to a site like hotels.com or kayak.com and enter the date and your requirements and see what they can find for you. Also, if you have a good price (say at hotel chain xyxy, then go to the xyxy web site and see if they can give you an even better deal.

Susan asks…

Going on a trip; help me with prices &organizing it?

First off, I’m not a millionaire. I make almost three hundred every two weeks hostessing &I want to go on a trip to Vegas to surprise my best friend. I don’t even know where to start. I still don’t know if I’m going alone or not, so I’m not sure what to add up yet. I’ve been looking up flight/hotel/car packages on Expedia.com estimating how many people are going. I don’t even know what I’m asking right now, I just need help planning this trip &finding the CHEAPEST pricest. I want to go in June, &that’s about a month away. Help?!

OH!! &how can I make extra money on the side? No nasty stuff, guys. ;]

<3
Scratch the car thing. You have to be twenty-five to rent one, &I'm eighteen. Crap.

<3
I haven't graduated yet, Sherlock.

<3
Awesome answers, guys. You rule. Now .. since most hotels in Vegas only allow twenty-one year olds to check out hotels, are there any that allow eighteen year olds? I don't know how to find one.

<3

Ready2Retire answers:

First browse all of your options of places to get flight tickets.I like cheap tickets.com.Start saving majorly. You may need to take the trip later in the year,so you have more money.Dont go out to eat everynight. You can babysit, house work for the elderly, get another job just for the trip and since you know you can live off of $300 put all the money from other sources away.Have a great time!!

Sharon asks…

We’re a family of four, going to New York City over Christmas, for 2 weeks. Where can we stay real cheap?

We want to stay in TIMES SQUARE. The hotel only needs to be basic but definately clean. I have been checking hotels.com and expedia.com – still can’t find anything, it’s taking weeks, and time is running out. Can somebody please help?
Thanks

Ready2Retire answers:

This is not in Times Square, but it’s right in midtown near the Empire State Building and not that far from Tmes Square: The Red Roof Inn on W. 32nd. Street. It’s inexpensive as NYC hotels go, and it’s part of a chain so you can trust it to be clean and safe.

BTW, you absolutely MUST see the Radio City Christmas Spectacular show. It’s amazing!
Have fun!

James asks…

Why use companies that say they get you the cheapest airfaire when they do not?

I used Expedia and the only thing it did for me was lock me into my flight and hotel with penalties for any changes. Expedia is uncooperative and worthless

Ready2Retire answers:

My recommendation is to always book directly with the airline or hotel. Using a third party is always risky.

Your Questions About Expedia Hotel

Mark asks…

Where do travel agents get their information?

How do travel agents decide which flights, hotels, etc. are best for their clients? (Not Expedia, Orbitz, the like.) Do they use a database?
What do home-based travel agents use? Do they get access to special software?

Ready2Retire answers:

Not “a database” but something more. They use one or another of the airline reservation systems like SABRE.

Your Questions About Expedia Hotel

Michael asks…

What do you do when hotwire.com rips you off on your vacation plans?

Hotwire.com…. Is extremely rude. We booked 2 rooms for our family with kids and they gave us a hotel with 2 rooms that are on different floors. When I spoke to them and supervison, they were rude and told me, you get what you get. They were so unbelieviably rude and obnoxious. I never had trouble with expedia or travelocity. They said pool, no pool. They are lied over and over and ruining our vacation. How do they get away with this and what can we do, they took our money? What can we do?

Ready2Retire answers:

File a complaint with the Better business Bureau and definetely don’t recommend them to anyone. Your greatest revenge is not giving them your business. Good luck!

Linda asks…

Valentien’s Day Gift for Boyfriend?

My boyfriend and I have been dating for nearly two years now, and with Valentine’s Day fast approaching I have been thinking about what to get him. Something we always talk about is the fact that our bathtub is too tiny for both of us to fit in. So I was hoping to take him away for a weekend and spend it at a hotel, a suite with a whirlpool bathtub, for us to enjoy. Just spend a weekend away from the stress and craziness that our jobs and life entails. However, my problem is i am a little short on money due to some unforseen expenses recently and the hotels I have found are a little too spendy. Though I have looked on expedia, hotels.com, etc. they don’t tell me if there is a large bath or not. Any suggestions, as to where to get the room I want for the price I need? I really want this Valentines day to be special so any other suggestions as far as what to do for him are greatly appreciated as well.
The reason I want this Valentines day to be special is I will be leaving for a job opportunity in 5 months and we wont be able to be together next Valentines. As he will be staying behind for a year to finnish his degree. Also, why we can’t spring for a larger bathtub.

Charles asks…

Has anyone used expedia.co.uk before?

Ive never booked a holiday online before and im a bit anxious parting with a lot of money online.

Ive just seen a wicked deal to go Vegas next year and stay at the Luxor with expedia i was wondering if anyone here has used them before and are they any good? or if anyone has had any bad experiences with them? ie tickets not turning up or hotels not being booked that sort of thing

Thank you xx

Ready2Retire answers:

I’ve used Expedia.co.uk loads of times, and I’ve never had an issue with the site.

In fact, I booked my hotel through Expedia a few weeks ago.

It’s a useful site, but sometimes the combined price of hotel and flights is very expensive. I halved the cost of my holiday by buying my flights separately.

I would recommend them.

Sharon asks…

I have some questions regarding my husbands BMT graduation?

1.) did anyone use a flight/hotel booking agent online, and which one was best? (expedia, hotels, hotwire, etc.)

2.) Hoping to stay at the Knights Inn right by the gates, anyone had any past experience here?

3.) My DH’s family wants to come, which is great that they are wanting to come, but I have a feeling they will try to interfere with “us” time. Any suggestions on how to politely say I want some time with my husband alone?

If I do stay close to base, would you recommend I still rent a car? Or will public transportation be enough?

Ready2Retire answers:

I love Expedia. There rates are great and you will often find hotels that you never knew existed that are very nice. I used them many times!

The Knight Inn in a “Kinight”mare. I stayed there when i went to visit my husband while he was in Basic (he had Pnuemonia, he was very ill and they authorized a visit). The locks didn’t work. The “peephole” was just a HOLE with toilet paper in it and there were Prostitutes and Drug Dealers all over the place. This was the one time I didn’t book online but just drove by in the daytime and booked a room. It was a nightmare epecially since I had a 9 month old with me. I stayed until the sun came up and then went to Howard Johnson which was EXCELLENT!

You aren’t going to have a whole lot of “us” time. He can display no PDA while on base and while in uniform. Don’t expect to have sex. There’s not that much time. Don’t be selfish with him. His family has missed him too! You will have all the alone time you need when you get stationed at your first base and your family and his family are miles and miles and miles away. Don’t ruin his graduation by making a fuss with his family over “alone time”.

Good Luck and Congrats to him!

Yes, you will need to rent a car. There is no public transportation that runs from the base to the local hotels.

Mary asks…

Does anyone have any good advice on a good place, preferably in the Florida Keys, to take a vacation in??

My friend and I are going to drive down to the florida keys for a week at the end of April, but we’re having a lot of trouble planning this. We’re looking to find some kind of resort type place on the beach that will have things like jet skiing, snorkling, etc.. all somewhat in the same area so we’re not driving around everyday trying to find everything.. or even just a hotel in the vicinity of these things. We’re college age, so we’re on somewhat of a budget, but we’re willing to look at anything, because we can’t find ANYTHING! we need help FAST!! we’re scared if we don’t book soon, there’s not going to be anything left because of the season. (and yes we’re looking through the obvious Expedia, hotels.com, etc…) We also still don’t know what part of the keys is the best? Last question which is kind of silly, but I know there’s an ocean side to the islands and the gulf side, does either side have bigger waves? (you know ocean waves, not like bay/lake looking waves). Important!
Thank you!

Ready2Retire answers:

Islamorada is a great island, and Bay Breeze is a great resort on the island. It’s beautiful and you can snorkel or fish right from the resort. I don’t know much about the waves though. Also on Islamorada (or maybe Tavernier) is Breezy Palms. That’s on the ocean side, unlike Bay Breeze. However, I prefer the first tot he latter. Good luck with your search. Hope this helps. :)

Your Questions About Expedia Hotel

Jenny asks…

Does Expedia ‘restock’ on trips?

I had my eye on a hotel & flight trip, but it just sold out today! Do they get new trips to the same hotel after a while, like a restock? Or am I out of luck?

Ready2Retire answers:

They simply resell deals made by travel agents and airlines. So it depends on if the airline continues or discontinued the offer

Mark asks…

hotel discounts? I need hotel discounts on marriot or hilton, a year ago I stayed for 90/night?

Right now the price is like 150/night if anyone knows of discounts or has any or knows of a good website besides like expedia etc which are offering the REGULAR price not discount. thankyou

For Marriott I have luck with these ebreaks. They are special rates that they send you e-mails on.

Donna asks…

I am planning a trip to New York for March. Dones anyone have any tips, as far as what website to use?

I have looked on expedia.com and ticketmaster.com for packages that include a flight and hotel. Just wondering if anyone knew of any other sites that were good. And also any good tips for going to the city, and hotels in the city that are affordable, would be great!!

Ready2Retire answers:

If it is still there check out the days inn hotel in manhattan.. It is either on 7th or 9th close to carnegie hall.. From there you want to check out the hotels, I believe are at either 7th or 9th and 59th.. You will be close to kennedy center Ice skating and not a long walk to times square.. Find a place close to that area.. Good hotels and reasonable prices.. Try manhattanny.com.. Good luck

Susan asks…

Your Questions About Expedia Hotel

Daniel asks…

Best way to plan trip to cancun?

Ive been looking on websites like expedia and they seem to have pretty good deals including the airfare and room. Im looking for an all inclusive hotel in Cancun.
Has anyone used these travel sites, or have any reccomendations on what resort to stay at? Thanks!

Ready2Retire answers:

Definitely try to book with a travel agent. My family has used one for years, which has saved us tons of money and energy (you don’t have to look around for the best prices- The agent will take care of that for you).

A good hotel to check out is the Iberostar Tucan. )It’s in Playa Del Carmen, but you do land in the Cancun International Airport.) You can get the all inclusive (I would certainly recommend it) and the staff is amazing. Beautiful hotel, amazing nighttime shows, fun stuff for everyone. It’s a really great time.

Good luck!

Paul asks…

Best place to vacation in Mexico with 2 teenage boys?

I’m looking for a good vacation spot in Mexico to travel with my 2 teenage boys (15 and 19). Must have good swimming beach and some night life – but nothing too crazy. There are so many cities it’s hard to choose! Recommendation for hotel or condo also appreciated: good location, comfy beds and restaurants on site. Expedia is great, but again, would like to hear from someone who has actually stayed at one recently. Thanks…

Ready2Retire answers:

The 19 year old will probably will be eager to experience the night life, and the 15 year old will love some beach activities.

You already have good options in other answers but here is another to put under your consideration:

Go to Puerto Vallarta, try to stay at tha marina or the hotels that are close to it, Westin Regina will be a suggestion but there´s more…….Try Vallarta Adventures , check it at the web, where you will find activities that will be appealing to both teens,( horse back riding, ATB, Cannoping, scuba diving, surf lessons, etc) and the night life in PV. Develops in the Malecon, a street facing the Pacific with a lot of restaurants, bars and night clubs, just a few steps away one from the other.
The Marina has also pretty good restaurants that you can go too.

hotels very close to Cedar point with a great value?

please take these points in mind
-less than $150 in july
-has a pool so while were in cedar point parents can relax
-less than 10 min away from cedar point
-nice and clean
-a specific hotel not hotel.com or expedia.com

thanks so much

Ready2Retire answers:

Less than $150 in july—-MAY NOT HAPPEN, BUT CHECK ON CLEVELAND RD. ROUT 6. ROUTE 250.
-has a pool so while were in cedar point parents can relax—hotel BREAKERS, SANDCASTLE SUITES (ON CEDAR POINT ISLAND)
-less than 10 min away from cedar point—CLEVELAND RD. ROUTE 6. ROUTE 250
-nice and clean—THEY ALL ARE PRETTY CLEAN…ITS A TOURIST TOWN
-a specific hotel not hotel.com or expedia.com—TRY ANYTHING ON CLEVELAND RD.

I KEEP SAYING CLEVELAND ROAD BECAUSE IT IS THE CLOSEST TO THE PARK. ROUTE 250 HAS ALL THE businessES, RESTAURANTS, MALL & SHOPPS. ROUTE 6 IS CLOSE TOO, AND IT IS BASICALLY CLEVELAND RD. EXTENDED TO HURON, OH. SO THE FURTHER YOU GO EAST ON CLEVELAN RD. IT WILL TURN INTO ROUTE 6.

THey said it was a computer mistake, they overdrafted my account and I got charged a whole bunch of ooverdraft fees.
